The Sikles & Kapuche Glacier Lake Trek is an off-the-beaten-path adventure in the Annapurna region, offering breathtaking Himalayan views, Gurung culture, and Nepal’s lowest glacier lake, Kapuche (2,546m). It is an ideal short trek for those looking for an alternative to popular Annapurna trails.

Trek Highlights

 Kapuche Glacier Lake (2,546m) – Nepal’s lowest-altitude glacier lake with stunning reflections of Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal, and Machhapuchhre.
 Sikles Village (1,981m) – A beautiful Gurung village, rich in culture, traditions, and architecture.
 Scenic drive from Pokhara through lush valleys, terraced fields, and forests.
 Panoramic mountain views – Annapurna II (7,937m), Lamjung Himal (6,983m), and Machhapuchhre (6,993m).
 Less crowded & peaceful trekking route compared to Annapurna Base Camp or Ghorepani.
 
 

 

 Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Pokhara to Sikles (1,981m) – 4-5 hrs drive

  • Early morning drive from Pokhara to Sikles village (via Taprang & Tangting).
  • Explore traditional Gurung village and interact with locals.
  • Overnight at homestay in Sikles.

Day 2: Trek from Sikles to Hugu Goth (2,100m) – 6-7 hrs

  • Start trekking through rhododendron forests, waterfalls, and small villages.
  • Gradual uphill walk to Hugu Goth, a seasonal herding settlement.
  • Overnight at teahouse in Hugu Goth.

Day 3: Trek from Hugu Goth to Kapuche Glacier Lake (2,546m) & Return to Sikles – 6-7 hrs

  • Early morning trek to Kapuche Glacier Lake (about 3 hrs).
  • Enjoy stunning reflections of mountains on the glacier lake.
  • Return trek to Sikles village (about 4 hrs).
  • Overnight at homestay in Sikles.

Day 4: Drive from Sikles to Pokhara – 4-5 hrs

  • Enjoy a relaxed morning in Sikles village.
  • Drive back to Pokhara via the scenic Madi River valley.
  • End of the trek!
